A fairytale postcard from Iris Esther - Puss in Boots

Inspired by the classic fairy tale Puss in Boots, this illustration captures our wonderfully clever cat at the beginning of an adventure. Dressed in his boots and feathered hat, with a little bundle slung over his shoulder, he follows the winding country road towards whatever might be waiting beyond the horizon.

There is something I have always loved about this old fairy-tale character. Puss may not look like he has very much to work with, but he has more than enough wit, confidence and determination to make up for it. And somehow, looking at him standing there on that road, you get the feeling that he knows it too.

I wanted this illustration to have that wonderful old-storybook feeling of setting out: the soft morning light, a road disappearing into the distance, autumn leaves caught on the breeze and the promise of an adventure just beginning.

A lovely postcard for fairy-tale lovers, cat lovers and anyone setting off on a new adventure of their own. Send it to someone special, display it at home or keep it as a tiny piece of illustrated art.
